An 8-mile day hike in the Indian Peaks Wilderness Area and a quick dip in a high alpine lake made the pizza and root beer much tastier!

While Rusty didn't join Nate on a canoe trip to the Boundary Waters in northern Minnesota, he did get to spend a week with his best dog friend, Doug.

Rusty joined Nate on a 12-mile bike ride near Tabernash, CO. It takes a lot to tire out a cattle dog, but we finally managed to do it!

On a backpacking trip near Minturn, CO, Leia, Doug, Luke, and Rusty posed for a picture. Beef jerky was involved.

Rusty got the chance to cool off in a mountain stream in the Lost Creek Wilderness after a long ride in his favorite place, Nate's truck.

During a trip to Leadville, Colorado, Rusty and two of his friends (Caden and Junebug) went on an 8.5-mile backcountry ski adventure.

Rusty and Twigs enjoyed staying dry during a trip to northern New Mexico for some camping and soaking in natural hot springs.

Rusty enjoyed an alpine lake well above treeline in Colorado's Gore Range during a backpacking trip. It snowed several inches...in August.

One of Rusty's traditions is helping Nate cut down the most Charlie Brown-looking Christmas tree with friends, hot drinks, and fresh cookies.

Outside of Silverton, Colorado is one of Rusty's favorite places. There's a wood-fired hot tub, a very cold river, and wild raspberries nearby.

Rusty loves trucks! He turns into a kid in a candy shop when he gets to "go for a ride." On a trip to Blue Mesa, he got plenty of truck time.

Even as a puppy, Rusty loved camping. We visit this backpacking spot early every year because it stays warmer than the rest of the Colorado mountains.
